One thought readily comes to mind about the invention of Radio. Of the twenty some odd people in the 19th century who had something to do with its inception and development, two come to mind. Heinrich Rudolf Hertz, validated Maxwell's theory through experiment, But he saw no practical use for his discovery. Let it lay undeveloped. Do not be like Heinrich!

The other one, Nikola Tesla developed means to produce reliably radio frequencies, and re-awarded the patent rights, after holding them initially, for radio by the US Supreme Court after his death in 1943.
Most of this discovered in the late 1880s and early 1890s and probably only trivia to you today.

In the mid 1950s, I was graduating from bicycles to cars and knew there was a product one could put in a leaky tire tube and seal it to hold air. My thought was to put it in an ‘aerosol can’ to “Fix A Flat’ and shrugged my shoulders later to see “Spare Tire” 4 or 5 years later. (I have my hand raised.) Guilty!
